20 Years

Mark and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary tomorrow. He was talking with a vendor the other day and the subject of, "Do you have any advice" came up so here is our short list:

1) Basic kindness is so important. I know that the people we live with tend to see us at our worst but it doesn't mean that we need to constantly throw our worst at them. Kind words go a long way to peace and encouragement in the household. Is how you treat your spouse how you would treat your best friend or inversely would your best friend be your best friend if you treated them like you treat your spouse?

2) You cannot underestimate the importance of being on the same page in your core values: faith, money, ect.

3) A speaker we had at chapel at SBU, Ingrid Trobish, gave this bit of advice that has always stuck with me: "Go into marriage with your eyes wide open and half shut thereafter".

4) Remember the important of grace and forgiveness, you are both going to need it!
