Learning

Learning to swim: What a difference a pair of perscription goggles make. We were able to get Jordan a pair of goggles when we were at they eye doctor (on sale!!!!) and he can see when we are at the pool now. It was funny, you could tell it was like he was seeing the place for the first time. Then, all of the sudden, he is chasing Leah and he is putting his head under water and swimming for a few seconds. He doesn't get the whole breathing thing yet but by the end of the evening he was beginning to learn the blowing out thing a little bit. It's really important to us that Jordan eventually learn how to swim since he doesn't really have a healthy fear of drowning.

School: We are about to finish up week 3 of school. It is really going well for the most part. Leah is figuring out what it takes to get a good grade for her tests. She seems to have a low level of tollerance for frustration for things she doesn't understand or when they don't work right, in time I am hoping this will improve. Overall she says Leah loves homeschool and she seems to be much less tense. Jordan gets more done when the weather is good. We are really working to try to get most of our stuff done in the morning before the afternoon rains come. I sometimes work with him a little on the weekend when I need to get stuff from the previous week finished. He is really anxious to start some science experiments.

My women's bible study starts next week and I am anxious to get into the swing of things there. I love doing the homeschool thing but I know I really need to pay attention to my need for time away from the kids. Learning balance is probably one of the most difficult things for me, but I guess that is true for most of the mom's I know weather they homeschool or not. As women we spend so much time thinking about what our families need that we forget to take care of ourselves.
