Today was one of those school days that I just love. Jordan was up early and ready to go. He is discovering that he can have his computer time after his checklist and school work is done so he was most anxious to be done. We also worked today on some independence issues. I find that even if he is comfortable with the Math problem he is constantly checking for approval so, if I get up and walk around and do some of my morning routine and just check in with him every few minutes he does better. He also had to hang up his own clothes today....it's not as neat as I would like but we are getting there.
Leah is working on a paper for me. She is finding that mommy is serious when she says that we have to turn our work in by the deadline or it is a zero. Other than that she is doing really well on her work. She did get to go to a movie with some of the teenagers that we had Thanksgiving with. She had a great time and got to get away a bit. I am hopeful she can keep making new friends and get out to do some other cool stuff like that in the future.
They just don't make things to last....I have been through 2 different compasses in one week. I realize that we aren't talking about loads of money but gee whiz!! It reminds me of a clothes basket I had once. I had this yellow plastic clothes basket in college and through the early years of our marriage, it probably lasted ten years. Oh the abuse I gave that thing. I stuffed it; stood in it to stuff more stuff into it; threw it down stairs; packed it in cars traveling to and from college; did just about everything to the darn thing but set it on fire. I never have had one last so well since. My theory is that it worked too well and so they made it out of cheaper materials so I would have to buy more clothes baskets. I'm all for cost efficiency and things but an item should make it through the first year or so....wouldn't you think?
