Today was our tour of the White House; the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum; and the Jefferson Memorial. You can't take anything other than some basic ID into the White House (wouldn't even let us take a wrapped up sandwich for Jordan for later) so we couldn't take any pictures that day.
The tour of the White House was a self guided tour through some of the basic reception rooms. It was interesting but I had hoped to see more. There were some interesting pieces of antique furniture and some paintings but that was about it.
We enjoyed the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. I was under the impression that the Smithsonian was one museum, it's not, it's a collection of museums. We got to see a super neat movie on the space station. Mark and the kids looked around upstairs a bit but I spent most of my time in the gift shop preferring not to deal with my vertigo issues. It looked like they were adding some more things the the exhibits on the main floor.
We ended our time in D.C. with a walk to the Jefferson Memorial (again quite a hike). We got there about sunset and it was beautiful!! Oh, how I wish I had my camera!!
Then the next day we packed our bags to head westward towards home. It was a neat trip. We didn't get to do everything we wanted or see everyone we wanted to (maybe next time Maretta). Maybe we will get to come again some day, I hope so!
