Anyway...back to the "vacation novel". On day 7 we visited the National Archives; WWII Memorial; and the Lincoln Memorial. It was a neat day but we did a LOT of walking. By the way...my advice to you if you ever go to D.C.-spend the money for one of the tour buses. We spent a lot of time walking on our vacation and missed some things that we really wanted to see because we simply ran out of time.
Jordan walking on the WWII Memorial. It's actually quite large but really beautiful. I think this one was special to me because my Grandpa Tucker served in WWII.
Here is part of the WWII Memorial commemorating the men and women who served from the State of Illinois, where my grandpa and most of the relatives on the McMillen/Tucker side of the family live.
Still part of the WWII Memorial-commemorating the two fronts of the war, The Atlantic and The Pacific.
This is a picture of the Washington Memorial at a distance.
The Lincoln Memorial. One of the neat things we enjoy are the talks given by the rangers from the National Parks Service. Our guide really was able to give us some interesting information on Lincoln, some I knew already (are you kidding...being from Illinois how could you not know a bit about Lincoln) and some I didn't.

Postal Service building. I enjoyed the architecture of D.C., they just don't make things like that anymore. So many of our buildings today are strictly utilitarian, seemingly no thought given to things that will last. Must everything be disposable?

The National Archives Building.
