2011 Recipe Update

Last year I mentioned that we like to make it a goal to do 12 new recipes a year. I haven't counted them in my head yet so here is the list as well as I remember it:
  1. Cranberry Apple Pie-It tastes a bit like a cherry pie.  I'm not sure how we ever lived without it.
  2. Broccoli Coleslaw-why were we throwing away broccoli stalks all these years?
  3. Black Bean Hummus-we liked but much better with chips than with veggies.
  4. Tomatillo Guac-again, how did we ever live without it.  We may have to adjust the spice on this, the jalapeno pepper is giving me such terrible heartburn that I haven't been able to enjoy it and I love this recipe.
  5. Brussels Sprouts-this recipe has onion and bacon in it.  As my sister Barb said, what doesn't taste good with bacon :)
  6. Beef Stew in Red Wine Sauce-which we serve over rice (to make it gfcf) or egg noodles.
  7. Lamb-I liked it but it was so rich, I wouldn't want it very often.
  8. Beef and Broccoli-a frequent meal, we love Chinese.
  9. General Tso's Chicken-also Chinese, the recipe isn't perfected yet but it is a definite keeper.  I think I could eat Chinese several times a week and be perfectly happy.
  10. Blue Cheese dressing-yes it did matter on the quality of blue cheese you bought. Some days a girl just needs some hot-wings!
Well it looks like we missed our goal by 2 but all in all, not bad.  I can't wait to see what's on our list for next year.  We've already marked a few in our Cooking Light that we would like to try, not all of our recipes come from the magazine.  We are always looking for new inspiration and tastes and of course if we can adapt it so Jordan can eat it too all the better.  Happy eating to you all in 2012!
