Today's family adventure took us to the Denver
Museum of Nature and Science where the featured exhibit was artifacts from the Titanic. We were also able to see an
IMAX movie called Ghosts of the Abyss where they did a documentary on the Titanic wreckage. The documentary was done by
filmmaker James Cameron and featured the actor Bill Paxton (I know him best from the Apollo 13 movie). They were able to get some wonderful footage using some little robot cameras. The whole thing was really impressive. One of the more interesting things brought out in the documentary was that they were diving/filming on
September 11, 2001 (filming a documentary about a disaster on the day of a disaster). I guess it put the whole aspect of tragedy and moving on afterwards into focus for all concerned.
Below are a couple of cool things. If you
double click on the images you should be able to get a large view making things readable. That second set of images is a "boarding pass" where each one of us were characters
on board the Titanic. We all survived except for Jordan's character Mr. Strauss. I wish I could have taken pictures but they didn't allow any photography in the exhibit area.
