We bought new tile for the fireplace about a year ago and Mark decided that he needed to get the project completed and crossed off his, "honey do" list. We have always hated the bland tile that was on there before and my guess is that it was original to the house.

He had to go and buy a sledge hammer to bust up the tile because it was going to take an eternity to do with the regular hammer.

After that he was trying to scrape off the remnants of the adhesive stuff (ok, I'm not technical or handy so forgive my loose use of terms) and I suggested that he just cut out the drywall and replace it (since we had some anyway, you might as well save yourself the time).

Here he has put up some cement board which is going to give him a more flat surface to adhere the tile to. Both Leah and I said that the fireplace already looks much improved and he hasn't even put any tile on yet. I'll post more pictures of the project later.
