Weekends are for relaxing and getting caught up on stuff at home right? This weekend was full of some of those little things and a surprise along the way.
Friday night we went to see our friend Steve in a production of The Sound of Music. It was nice and the play is somewhat like the movie but also has some interesting differences. Jordan loved it and has been carrying around the play-bill since then. He asked Mr. Steve all about it when we went out after church on Saturday night. So now Jordan is going to be all Sound of Music, all the time, for a little while.
Saturday morning we woke up to find that our furnace is not working. The company we had been using had gone out of business (we didn't know that) and so we didn't get a call back from them. We tried another one and they wanted $150 just to come out and look at it over the weekend. So in the meantime, Mark and our neighbor (another Steve) figured out what the problem is. Both guys are pretty mechanical so we ordered the defective part and are going to replace it ourselves. I think we'll have it inspected soon just to be sure things are ok (both heater and air-conditioner were due for a check-up anyway). Once we are out of debt I think that a new heater is going to go on the list of things to be replaced. We are slowly trying to do updates on the house so that when we are ready to resell in a couple of years most of the bigger ticket things will be out of the way. Back to the present-we bought a couple of space heaters and have managed to stay warm enough. We are incredibly thankful that this did not happen on those sub-zero days!
The rest of our fun weekend was spent paying bills, doing taxes, and trying to get a little extra rest. I'm not sure I'm ready for another weekend just yet.
