Monday

It's beginning to look a lot like fall here. We are having more cool days and the leaves are starting to turn their bright golden color.

Jordan had a rough week last week (which meant I did too). He is really upset about the fact that he is not doing 6th grade work and he wants to be treated like a teenager. The problem is that we aren't really ready for either. Jordan has some major academic holes that we need to plug up before moving on. He is trying to act more grown up by using his "teenage voice" as he calls it but a teenage voice doesn't mean he has anywhere near the maturity of a teenager. As my friend Janet says (and it is doubly true with Jordan) that teenagers in a lot of ways are very large toddlers.

Leah has been really into the photography thing and is taking pictures of everything that stands still and some things that don't. I am noticing more and more that she is moving emotionally towards maturity. She has started taking on more responsibility and has been less combative.

We had a pretty good weekend. We got the car mostly cleaned out and looking spiffy and we got new tires. Mark played the drums at church. I got to spend some time with my friend Lynn at church who has a kid a lot like Jordan but more advanced. It is good to have a "sister" who understands what I am going through and can tell me somewhat what the road ahead looks like. She also gave Mark and I some ideas on things we might try medically for Jordan. As always we will have to count on God's grace for wisdom and finances and do what we can. It sure would be nice to be able to get insurance to cover more of his stuff.

Better run-it's time for lunch!!!
