A Free Minute

I've got a free minute while Jordan is working on his math (we are past the word problems for the day she he doesn't need my help for the moment) so I thought I would do a quick post.

Leah is doing ok with the spacers in her teeth. They have been a little more uncomfortable than she expected but she is learning how to manage. She is really looking forward to getting the initial set of brackets on.

Jordan is settling down a bit now after our latest round of snow. We read 2 books today, one on coyotes, and one on dinosaur riddles. He doesn't really get humor unless he can picture it in his head.

Mark and I are doing well. Mostly we are just doing routine stuff. We recently read The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey and we are starting to put things into practice. God has really been speaking to us for some time about getting out of debt. So, we are looking at budgeting again, and trying to figure out where to cut corners. I think given gas prices this summer a vacation is probably out of the picture-bummer! At the moment we are praying about weather to keep or sell the van. I am not opposed to keeping it but I'm not opposed to selling it either. If we got a smaller car we would want something less expensive, better gas mileage, and maybe something easy for Leah to learn to drive in. Just keep us in your prayers as we struggle through making the right decisions for our family.

Prayer concerns: It has been a rough couple of weeks for those in our extended circle of friends and acquaintances. Janet has been having back trouble. Mark K called this week and the houses in his dad's neighborhood were on fire (we are praying for his safety and that his house and possessions may be saved if possible). A little boy in my friend's daycare has a dad who is in the hospital w/cancer and has been given a 50/50 chance of survival (little boy is 3 and Dad is in his early 30's-spiritual condition is undetermined so be in prayer for that most of all). We think of Madison's family who are still in their grief/recovery process. In light of all of these things my daily concerns seem insignificant. There are many others not mentioned. Some days it just seems as if the whole world is falling apart. If you could say a quick prayer for my friends I would appreciate. God is our refuge and our strength but we need to intercede for others and do what we can practically to be the light of Jesus to those around us.
