Calm in the Midst of the Storm

I guess the title of today's blog would be a good example of how I'm feeling at the moment. I've had a rough couple of weeks but am starting to feel better. (Thanks for your prayers guys.) It seems like everyone I know is stressed about something big. We know of several people who have lost their jobs, had their hours cut, etc. Several people we know are dealing with major life changes (changing jobs, new babies, divorce). I guess you could say that I am grateful that life for the most part is fairly stable here. We have our stresses but we are surrounded with good friends to pray for us, encourage and listen to us, and give us a break now and then.

I have several friends who are worried about the election. I guess you could say I have a sense of peace in that as well. I have done my part and voted, there's really not much else I can do but pray. I may or may not like the outcome of the election. I figure the outcome is in God's hands either way. It's funny but our pastor Matt talked about it a little bit this weekend giving a little historical perspective. Some 2000 plus years ago Israel was looking for a political messiah. They wanted someone who would bring peace and prosperity, sounds familiar huh? Is our peace in our bank account...no. Is our peace in whomever becomes president...I surely hope not. If I am not looking for my peace in Jesus I will surly be disappointed.

Odds and ends:
Jordan got an A on his history test this week.
Leah gets her bottom braces on tomorrow.
Mark is probably going to be getting some additional responsibilities at work in the near future. (One co-worker retired, another got a new job.) Don't know for sure what that means yet.
We are doing a gifts study for our small group bible study (the SHAPE book put our by someone who works @ Saddleback).

That's it for today. Time to kick back and re-read a good book. I'm currently re-reading Pride and Prejudice. I'm one of those types of readers that picks up new stuff each time a read a book.
