Finally I finished Pilgrim's Progress, it took FOREVER. I can say now that I have read it now but think it is unlikely that I will ever read it again. My basic gripe with it is that is seemed to be based on a very works based salvation, one little slip up and you are a goner, no grace.
For my next reading projects I am going for both light and heavy. I am re-reading Little House in the Big Woods (it's like an old familiar friend) for times when I want something lighter and for my major reading I am reading a bio on Dietrich Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas. The Bonhoeffer book is awesome so far. Mark read it before I did and loved it. The author spoke at church on Sunday night a couple of weeks ago. Our main site auditorium at church seats about 1200, I think Mark said they had 2700 show up. They had people in classrooms, meeting rooms, the old sanctuary, anywhere they could get people around a tv screen. You might have heard some buzz about the author, he spoke at the National Day of Prayer this year. If you can get ahold of the book I would definitely put that on my "must read" list.
