I went to the Naturalist yesterday for my first visit. The consensus seems to be that my nervous system is overloaded and needs some help getting back on track. They did this cranial stimulation thing which I don't really understand but it is supposed to open up the blood vessles in your head. It's kind of different, she places her hands very lightly on your head in different positions (also under my torso in a couple of places). I was dizzy when I first sat back up. The next thing she did was to look at everything I am taking, perscription, over-the-counter, and supplements, as well as looking at my nutrition. She had me hold some different supplements related to nervous system support to see how my body reacted to them (that part was kind of weird). She is putting me on some supplements that are supposed to help your nervous system and is increasing my magnesium intake with the eventual goal of getting most of what I need from food. Actually most of what I should be eating is stuff that is good for keeping my calcium levels up too so all in all it's a good thing to do. Time will tell how well this works, at this point I am willing to give it a try.
Last night and this morning are good examples of what is going on with my body. Mark came up behind me to give me a hug and as he breathed on my neck, I about jumped through the roof. We went to bed and I just couldn't rest. All of the sudden just as a big wind came through, it seemed live someone was running electric current through my body, as the wind passed, so did the sensation. I got up and went to sleep on the couch where I could pile up the blankets and listen to my Bible. Once I got to sleep, I slept through the night. This morning Jordan has tried to tap me on the shoulder or the elbow and again, I about jump through the roof. Now if my family hugs me tight, that is ok. So for now, it's big squeezes or nothing.
I don't know for sure where the answers to what is going on with my body lie, but I am in search of them. I am willing to look at the alternatives but would rather take care of what is going on through nutrition and excercise if I can. Traditional medicine hasn't been of much help so far, so here we go with "the voodoo doctor".
