Not much is going on here so I thought I would chat about some of the things I am reading.
Jordan and I have taken a little break but we are reading, James and the Giant Peach. We are doing a science unit on clouds so we have also been picking up books on clouds at the library. It is cool to be able to get supplements to our science units from the library. I think Mark and I learn as much from reading them (or more) than Jordan does. By the way Janet, some time ago you mentioned the names of clouds in one of your blogs. The ABEKA Science for 5th grade is the place to look!
I just finished, Pride and Prejudice this week. I think because I had seen the movie first (the 2005 version) I understood the language a bit better. I also think it helped to be reading it from a version that had notes on languages and customs and things to help you understand the story better (language has changed a bit in the last 200 or so years).
Now, I am reading, The Coalwood Way. This book is by the author of Rocket Boys, that they based the movie October Sky on. The author (Homer Hickam) grew up in a coal mining town in West Virginia and wound up working for NASA as an engineer. I am assuming this story is picking up where the last book left off. It's really pretty interesting reading so far.
