Paying Yourself

Mark did our budgeting today. We spent a bit last month with the dryer purchase and everything but it is amazing how much more quickly you get yourself paid back than you do when you put stuff on credit. We were talking to some friends a few weeks ago that were having similar money issues (they are paying for their daughter's wedding). It seemed to them that each time they got some extra cash that it already had a pre-destined purpose and that their debt-reduction plan was going nowhere. We reminded them that if they weren't putting more money on credit that they were really ahead and you just have to keep thinking of it that way. Reminds me of that political commercial on TV about when you are in a hole, you stop digging. Yeah, these little things come up, but we're still making progress. We didn't get into all of this stupid debt overnight and we won't get out of it overnight either. Those credit card offers we get in the mail don't look the least bit tempting to me, to the shredder they go!
