It has been nice to get a little R&R this weekend. Mark and I actually got to spend the night here at home without the kids. It felt for a moment like that "empty nest" syndrome you hear about when your adult kids leave home. I don't know if we will ever get there because of things with Jordan but I wondered what on earth I would do if he ever does leave home? (That's a discussion better left for another time.) Anyway....Mark and I didn't really do anything special we just got to enjoy being around one another without interruption, it was nice. I am hoping my friend that watched Jordan will be willing to do this a little more often and I can take turns and watch her daughter too!
Leah had a great time at the 8th grade retreat. They of course didn't get much sleep and they loaded up on junk food. I think the one big thing that she is looking forward to about high school programs at church is that most people who are coming to church when they get to be that age are there because they want to be and not because their parents make them. (Our high school program is on Sunday night.) I hope she continues to make friends at church who will continue to support her in her faith.
Jordan had a good time with Ms. Lynette and Mr. Dan. He got to read their books, watch movies, and take a walk to the park. They let Jordan sleep with one of the kid's stuffed animals that was a moose. I guess Jordan insisted that the moose have it's shirt off because you just don't sleep with your shirt on (or at least Jordan doesn't so that must be the rule for everyone). I guess Mr. Dan and Ms. Lynette got an education on some presidential history as well this weekend. Jordan informed them on their walk to the park that 4 presidents had been assassinated. They knew that Lincoln and Kennedy had been assassinated but didn't know about the others so when they got back home they looked it up. In addition to Lincoln and Kennedy, presidents Garfield and McKinley were also assassinated. When it comes to facts, Jordan knows his stuff! I always did say that he was a walking, talking encyclopedia.
We hope you had a great weekend too!
