Economic Creativity

We are starting to find little ways to cut corners here and there, not so much out of necessity at this point but just to help what we have go a bit further.

One such for instance is the canned fruit we are buying for Jordan. I want to keep as much nutritious food in him as I can while keeping his teenage belly full. Mark and I had been buying a good 6 to 8 cases of fruit (about 8 15 oz. cans per case) per month. We decided to look into buying those industrial sized cans (105 oz.). They are almost half the price.

Also out of necessity I have been using vinegar to clean more things. It is much cheaper and I am breathing much better. The smell of bleach is just about more than I can take anymore so vinegar for basic cleaning and bleach only when and where necessary.

Mark and I were in at Sam's the other day and the gentleman working the meat counter gave us an education in buying meat. I guess it does pay to talk to the guy behind the counter.

I just wish gardening was a little easier to do in our neck of the woods. Unfortunately, even if we could garden, we have so little storage space. I guess in the long run maybe it doesn't matter that we don't have a garden. Maybe I'll try container gardening.
